Anand Cine Service
Soon after completing his Bachelors in Commerce and Masters in Business Administration, Kiran Parvataneni joined Allwyn Nissan, Hyderabad as a Management Trainee and gained a lot of experience as he worked in various parts of India. However, with a family background in entrepreneurship and films, he wanted to start out on his own. Thus, he quit his job and in 1987, started out as a partner along with his brothers A Ravi Shanker Prasad and Manohar Prasad in Anand Cine Service, Hyderabad to provide film cameras, lights, generators and other equipment rental for primarily to the South film industry as it shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad in the late 1980’s.
In less than a decade, Anand Cine Service (Hyderabad and Chennai) became India’s largest film equipment rental house. With a capacity to rent equipment for 60 feature films at the same time, today Anand Cine Service has helped bring an international standard to the technical quality of the South Indian Cinema. P. Kiran helped create and manage a dedicated and trained work force of over 300 technicians who work round the clock on the various films under production.
Gemini TV
In the early 1990’s, just as Satellite Television, that was launched in India, P.Kiran and his brothers Ravi Shanker Prasad and Manohar Prasad realized that every region with a strong film industry could also support regional television channels, as the viewers would want to consume content in their own native language. With this in mind, on 9th February 1995, they launched Gemini TV, the first private satellite channel in the Telugu language.
Later, Gemini TV merged with the Sun TV Network, the largest Satellite TV network in South India and retains its premier position in the Telugu market. Even after the merger of Gemini TV, P. Kiran continued to lead, manage and motivate a team of creative professionals. Today, Gemini TV is a well-loved name in every household of the two Telugu states, which is a testament to P. Kiran’s constant innovation and understanding of the changing psyche of the audience. In fact, due to P. Kiran’s long and continued association with Gemini TV, he is also known in the media as Gemini Kiran.
